Waterproof Pads

We discovered the company Rumpl recently when browsing online at REI. First we purchased their Everywhere Blankets, which we loved, so we decided to buy another one. While we were at their site, we discovered they also make waterproof pads, which is not only perfect for traveling, but could come in handy when we get to our new apartment. Or maybe for a picnic at the ocean!

The pads are fun and colorful, and fold into a little attached pouch for easy carrying. The bottom is waterproof, and the top is a soft polyester microsuede.

They cost $79, which is a bit more expensive than buying something like a waterproof sheet, but waterproof sheets don’t seem to last long, and they are hard to keep in place. These mats are heftier and will probably last a long time, and they stay in place wherever you put them.

  1. Related: any fear the black side might stain a light-colored sofa/airplane seat? And how easy would claws scratch through them (would you put a blanket on top of them?).

    1. Hi Monika! Those are great questions! To be honest, we only got them out long enough to admire them (and take the pictures), then we packed them back up to keep them pristine for the trip. 😊 As far as the claws go, we have been using the other blankets non-stop (I even sleep with mine) and the cats have been digging their claws in them a lot, but there don’t seem to be many punctures. I think the rip stop nylon must be doing an amazing job keeping the fabric fairly damage-free. These pads are more durable than the blankets, so I would like to think they would withstand sharp objects even better.
